WTCPUA to Install Radio Antenna Towers in Lake Pointe
Posted on Aug 16th, 2023

Starting tomorrow, our water/wastewater utility West Travis County Public Utility Agency will begin installing four radio towers at four lift station locations in Lake Pointe.
The towers are needed to remit radio signals from lift stations back to the plant to communicate tank levels and pump failures, which will enable staff to respond quickly when issues occur.
The current system is mostly based on telephone dialers that call in when there are level alerts.  When telephone service is interrupted (due to weather or other events), they lose communication with the lift stations.  The proposed radio towers will have radios owned by the PUA to alleviate reliance on outside service from AT&T or Spectrum.  The towers have to be above the tree lines to have clear signals to the plant.  The proposed towers have been restricted to less than 25’ in height to lessen the impact on surrounding neighbors.
The PUA has worked with the Lake Pointe MUD and the Lake Pointe HOA to reduce the number of radio towers and their height.
